The Holy One of Israel
The holiness of our LORD is incomprehensible to our
human minds.
It is so majestic and inspiring that the four living
creatures around His throne do not rest day or night, saying,
"Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to
come!" And each time the living creatures give glory to Him, the
twenty-four elders fall down in worship before Him and cast their
crowns at His feet." (Rev.4:8)
Our LORD told Moses in
Leviticus 19:2, "You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am
holy." Jehovah was about to give Moses instructions for being a
people "set apart", dedicated to sacred purposes, morally and
ceremonially pure. Qadosh is a verb that means "to set apart
something or someone for holy purposes." Holiness is an attitude of
the heart that results in actions which speak dedication to everything
holy and pure and separation from all that is profane or defiling. Again
in 1 Peter 1:15 we are commanded to live obediently before our Father,
"as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your
conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy.'"
Everything about God is holy...His nature,
motives, thoughts, words and deeds. "Qadosh" means "The
Holy One" while "Qedosh Yisrael" is "The Holy One of
Israel." As we worship our LORD as Qedosh Yisrael, He manifests
Himself in this aspect of His character, and we are transformed to be
more like Him as we spend time in His glorious presence.
It is evident that Isaiah was intimately
acquainted with The Holy One of Israel, as he used this name to describe
Him at least 26 times. Judah was a sinful nation and completely missed
the mark of obedience. The greater revelation of God's holiness, the
greater revelation of our sinfulness. The more time we hang out with a
holy God, the more we realize how far we are from this definition. Yet
our hope is in the blood of Jesus, because what we cannot accomplish has
been accomplished by Him on the cross.
HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL, in spite of Israel's rebellion
and sinfulness, in Your mercy, You still revealed Yourself to her. We
are so sorry for our sinfulness, as individuals and as a nation; for
walking in rebellion and for tolerating sinfulness in ourselves. Cause
us to be appalled by the darkness within our hearts and draw us to abide
in Your Light. Please forgive us, and cleanse us with Your blood, Yeshua.
We worship You in the beauty of Your holiness, joining the four living
creatures and the twenty-four elders...we cry HOLY, HOLY, HOLY! Continue
to reveal the depth of Your holiness to us.
This white silk flag depicting the spotless purity
and holiness of our LORD, moves like liquid and is trimmed with
two-tone, satin embroidered Europa ribbon. Embroidery is a symbol of
victory, celebration and royalty, as well as the Bride. Psalm 45:14
says, "She will be led to the King in embroidered work..."
while Ezekiel 27:7 refers to a standard (also translated banner/sail) of
fine embroidered linen from Egypt.
