The
following vision came during worship at Living Way Church in December,
1997.
A
Lion walked across what looked like a blank screen, with a blue-gray
background. It looked like
the effect of what is done in movies with the blue background that is
used to shoot a scene to be later filled in with edited footage…just
the Lion walking across this plain backdrop.
Then the Lion put His paw on a map of Mason, Ohio and as He did,
the blue background melted away and the Lion stepped right into the
middle of Mason-Montgomery Road, heading north.
The Lion began a stately walk right up
the middle of the road toward Mason.
The next thing I saw was a large eagle perched on the back of the
Lion. The two of them
continued to move up the road in a steady, confident manner.
As the Lion marched forward, the eagle would lift off His back
and fly in front of Him, moving backwards and facing the Lion, waving
his wings in worship. The
eagle would then move and rest upon His back again. As they continued forward, the eagle would rotate his
position from the worship to encircling the Lion’s head and then again
rest on His back. Sometimes
the eagle would encircle the Lion’s neck.
The Lion wore no royal robes or jewels or crown, but I had the
sense that the movement of the eagle was creating a crown of glory upon
His head and garlands of glory around His neck.
As they continued to move up
the road, they were passing the cemetery on the left side of the road
and on their right was a grassy field with a fencerow of trees along the
roadside. Through the trees
came first an elephant, then a donkey, and then a nightingale.
They seemed to be curiously drawn to this Lion, simply taking
notice of what was happening. I was very aware that the eagle continued his patterns of
worship and that these creatures did not bow down, but kept quietly
looking on. Next there
appeared along the same side of the road a tiger, then a leopard and
finally a peacock. They
seemed to be in the same attitude of observance as the first three
creatures, looking on with no expressions of emotion, but quite
obviously taking note of the Lion and the eagle.
Up in the trees along the edge of the cemetery on the left side
perched a brightly a colored parrot.
I sensed the Lord saying that, “Although you do not see any of
these creatures bowing, they will in time…all will except this
parrot.”
The Lion and the eagle moved on up
Mason-Montgomery Road to Route 42 and turned left at the traffic light,
continued west and turned left again, went a short distance and turned
left again, ending up back at the center of town.
I wasn’t completely certain of the streets that they were
walking during this time, but it was apparent that they were making a
triangle in the heart of town, and seemed to be going over Main,
possibly to Forest or maybe it was a road that doesn’t actually exist
on our maps, then they cut back over to Rt. 42 or Mason-Montgomery and
went north again. It seemed
as though they were establishing their position or staking their
territory. Once back in the
heart of town at the main intersection, the Lion sat down, with the
eagle perched on His back. Above them a beautiful canopy began to
unfurl, spreading out from over their heads, as from a center point of a
circle to the edges.
In an instant the picture changed to a
picturesque still life painting of a small town, which I knew was Mason,
although the buildings were not exactly building-for-building like the
town. An Artist’s hand
came into the picture with a paintbrush and began to put the finishing
touches on the painting, as if to frost the buildings for a winter
scene, but instead of snow, the Artist was “gilding” the buildings
with a translucent gold. As
the hand touched the brush to just one part of a building, the entire
building would begin to glow, until the whole picture was reflecting
this golden glory. A deep sense of serenity was released as the town
turned golden.
