"The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD
God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge." (Ruth
2:12)
This was the blessing bestowed on Ruth by Boaz when he met her
gleaning in his field. Boaz is a type of Jesus, our Redeemer, Ruth
symbolizes His Bride. Naomi can prophetically represent Holy Spirit,
who guides us to our destiny. Naomi instructed Ruth to go to Boaz at
the threshing floor, and when he found her at his feet, he asked her,
"Who are you?" "I am Ruth, your maid servant. Take your maidservant
under your wing, for you are a close relative." (Ruth 3:9)
The Hebrew word used here is "goel" which means kinsman
redeemer.
Who could envision the size of the wings of our LORD? Their expanse is
broad enough to shelter all of His children and as a mother bird
protects her young, He covers all of us from harm. Young or old, male
or female, single or married, we all need the protection of our LORD God
Almighty. And He desires to reveal Himself as the One Who not only
provides refuge, but Who is our Refuge. He is a shelter, a fortress, a
hope, a place of trust, a covering in the storm, our security.
LORD, we come to your as our only Refuge. We can
only find peace, security and comfort under the shadow of Your wings.
Spread Your wings over us. We commit our lives and our love to You. We
trust you to redeem every area of our lives, to negotiate in the gates
of the city on our behalf. We desire to covenant with You in a spiritual
marriage. Where You go, we will go, You are our God and we are Your
people, and Your people shall be our people. We admit that the price of
redemption is greater than we can pay for ourselves and we exalt You,
Jesus, as Redeemer, for being our Ransom and repurchasing that which we
lost through sin. You are "Goel" to us!
