Ezekiel writes,
"Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the
north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself, and brightness
was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of
amber, out of the midst of the fire. Also from within it came the
likeness of four living creatures." (Ez. 1:4,5) In Chapter 10, the
four living creatures are referenced as cherubim. The cherubim are the
same living creatures seen by John and recorded in Revelation 4, who do
not rest day or night, and say, "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God
Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!" El Shaddai is the Hebrew
name for God Almighty. El Shaddai is considered the all sufficient God,
sometimes described as "the denim and lace" God Who is strong
enough to help but tender enough to care for all our needs. Fire also
has dual properties in that it can destroy or comfort. El Shaddai in all
His glory should cause us to tremble, yet provided protection for the
Israelites as a pillar of fire.
El
Shaddai, release the whirlwind of Your glorious
presence upon this earth. We join the living creatures and the twenty
four elders, casting our crowns and our reputations and all glory at
Your feet, saying, "You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and
honor and power, for You created all things and by Your will they exist
and were created."
